No One is Coming
Locus of Control:
A psychological concept that refers to how strongly people believe they have control over the events in their lives.
You can have either an internal or external locus of control.
External — Life is happening to you
Internal — You are happening to life
Shoutout to George Mack for the framing of this. Check out his essay on High Agency if you haven’t already.
I’d also recommend listening to this episode of the Modern Wisdom podcast. Pure gold.
Don’t rely on someone else to change your life or get you out of a rut.
With AI tools like ChatGPT readily available for free, knowledge is no longer the bottleneck.
You can outsource knowledge, but you can’t outsource action.
The following list is from Eric Jorgensson’s book ‘The Almanack of Naval Ravikant’:
Doctors won’t make you healthy
Nutritionists won’t make you slim
Teachers won’t make you smart
Gurus won’t make you calm
Mentors won’t make you rich
Trainers won’t make you fit
Save yourself.
Think of the biggest problem in your life right now. Maybe it feels like it’s out of your control.
Now try and think of one tiny action you can do to make this problem 1% less painful.
There is always something you can do.
Start with baby steps to prove to yourself that you’re not totally out of control.
Thanks for reading, hope this helps at least one of you. If so, I’d love to hear about it.

This is well said.
No one is coming to save you.
Add: people who disagree with you won't realize you're right!
The wishful thinking is real. Let's all start by accepting reality and each other. Then let's work with what we have to make things better.
